Paul Liversidge — Disambiguated

About

When I was child I always thought my name was unusual, as I never came across anybody else with my surname. As an adult moving into the larger world, I finally started to meet people that shared my surname and felt it would only be a matter of time before I met my doppelganger.

In my early twenties I found that person whilst trying to book a computer in for repair. On the telephone I was asked for my name, which I duly gave. I was then asked for my name again, which I duly gave, again. After one of those awkward silences, the telephone operator then explained that the manager responsible for computer repairs also shared my name. For the next few years whilst I worked with this supplier, it became a constant source of amusement and confusion.

Three years later when I left my employer, my doppelganger applied for my job and we joked about how easy it would be for him to replace me. No need to update the telephone directory, distribution lists, internal forms, etc. I even interviewed my doppelganger but unfortunately, he didn't get the job.

Since then I've become more adept at online research and I know there are 28 of me in the UK. I come across them now and again as our email addresses on web sites or free services cross. I get an email for them, they get one for me, etc. Therefore, having sat on this domain for a while I thought I'd put something up.
